FAQ

CAN I SAVE MONEY BY BATHING MY DOG MYSELF?

While I understand the desire to save money, bathing your dog yourself may actually make the grooming process more difficult. Clean, fluffed hair is essential for a proper clip, and I use high-quality products and equipment to achieve the best results. A thorough bath ensures your dog’s coat is clean and prepped for a more precise and efficient grooming experience.

If you prefer to bathe your dog beforehand, my services might not be the best fit for you, as I aim to provide a comprehensive grooming experience for the best possible results.

CAN I SCHEDULE REACCURING APPOINTMENTS?

Yes! When booking your appointment, you’ll be asked which grooming schedule you'd prefer (1-, 2-, 4-, or 6-week). Your preferred schedule may also determine which days I am available to service your area. After your first appointment, if you’re satisfied with my services, I will gladly schedule your future appointments in advance.

CAN I STAY WITH MY DOG WHILE HE/SHE IS BEING GROOMED?

In general, most pets tend to behave better and are less anxious when their owners are not present during the grooming process. For safety and insurance reasons, only the groomer and the pet are allowed in the trailer while grooming is underway. However, you are more than welcome to tour the trailer before or after the grooming session.

DO YOU GIVE DISCOUNTS?

As a small business, I am the sole groomer and operator, and this is not just a hobby for me—it’s my full-time career and how I support my family. I am committed to providing excellent service and continuously advancing my skills to ensure the best care for your pets. Offering discounts would make it difficult for me to remain profitable and continue providing the high-quality service you and your pets deserve. This policy applies to all clients, including those with multiple dogs. Thank you for your understanding.

DO YOU GROOM CATS?

I specialize exclusively in dog grooming. While I have groomed cats in the past, it’s not a service I focus on. I have a deep passion for working with dogs, as I’m able to read their energy and behavior with ease. Every groomer has their specialties, and dogs are truly my favorite! Thank you for understanding.

DO YOU GROOM ELDERLY DOGS?

Absolutely! I have the experience and knowledge to groom older dogs, taking into consideration factors like breed tendencies, joint and hip fatigue, and sensitivity to noises.

If at any point during the grooming process I feel that the service is becoming too stressful or unsafe for your pet, I will stop immediately to ensure their well-being.

DO YOU NEED TO HOOK UP TO MY HOUSE FOR WATER OR ELECTRICITY?

Nope! My trailer is fully self-contained. It operates with its own generator for power and has water storage, so I don't need to connect to your home’s utilities. All I need is a safe, accessible place to park!

DO YOU OFFER LATCHKEY SERVICES?

Yes! I offer latchkey services if you're unable to be home for your pet’s grooming appointment. This service is available after the first initial appointment where I meet and groom your pet.

For all latchkey clients, a credit card must be kept on file to cover any missed payments or applicable cancellation fees. Pets should be in an easily accessible area, and all bedroom doors must be closed. A key or access code must be provided to me in advance.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY DOG BE GROOMED?

While I prefer to have my clients pre-book appointments to ensure a consistent grooming schedule, I understand that this may not always be possible. To help with this, I send reminders when your dog is due for their next grooming service.

Grooming frequency depends on the breed, but generally, it’s recommended that your pet be groomed every 4-6 weeks. Some breeds may require more frequent grooming. I offer 1-, 2-, 4-, and 6-week appointment options to ensure your dog stays on a proper maintenance plan while allowing me to build a trusting relationship with your pup.

Dogs with skin issues may need grooming every 1-2 weeks, while those requiring haircuts should be seen every 4-6 weeks. Alternatively, I can place your pet on a 2-week alternating schedule between baths and haircuts for balanced care.

HOW OLD DOES MY PUPPY NEED TO BE TO RECEIVE SERVICES?

It’s important to start grooming your pup as early as possible to ensure they have a positive experience. I highly recommend that your puppy be at least 8 weeks old and have received their first two sets of vaccinations before starting grooming services.

When your puppy first comes into the trailer, we’ll start with a Signature Bath or a Signature Bath + Sani. This introductory session is designed to familiarize your pup with the grooming process in a one-on-one, stress-free environment—far from the noise and hustle of a traditional grooming salon. It's crucial to ensure that their first grooming experience is positive, as this will set the tone for their future grooming sessions.

Typically, I recommend waiting until your puppy is around 7-8 months old before scheduling their first Signature Haircut. This is assuming they’ve been receiving regular grooming services and are mat-free.

DO YOU REQUIRE VACCINATIONS?

It is Texas state law that your dog be vaccinated for at least their Rabies shot. Although I strongly advise that your pup has all of their shots: Parvo, Distemper, Bordetella, and Rabies.

Texas Health and Safety Code Section 826.021 - Vaccination of Dogs and Cats Required (public.law)

HOW SOON WILL I HEAR BACK WHEN BOOKING MY APPOINTMENT?

As a small business, I don’t have a receptionist, so please allow up to 24 hours for a response to your appointment request. While I typically don’t respond outside of business hours, I will make an effort to reply during quieter times of the day or earlier in the morning. I also want to ensure I’m not interrupting my current clients’ appointments. Rest assured, I will get back to you as soon as possible!

I DON'T WANT MY DOG ON A SET SCHEDULE, CAN'T I JUST BOOK WHENEVER?

So Fetch! Mobile Dog Grooming might not be the mobile groomer for you and that's fine. I need to keep a tight schedule. To ensure my routes are as optimized as possible with the rising costs of gas.

I'M NOT HAPPY WITH MY SERVICE, CAN I GET A REFUND?

I do not offer refunds, but I want you to be completely satisfied with the grooming service. It's important to communicate your expectations clearly with me before the appointment. If there’s an issue with the service, please contact me within 48 hours, and I will do my best to resolve it. After 48 hours, I’ll aim to address any concerns at your next appointment. Your satisfaction is important to me, and I want to ensure you’re happy with the services you receive.

I NEED TO CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT WHAT DO I DO?

I understand that things happen, but as a mobile groomer, I don’t have the flexibility of a salon to fill your spot immediately. Therefore, I kindly ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

MY DOG COMES TO WORK WITH ME, CAN YOU GROOM HIM/HER AT MY OFFICE?

Sure! As long as there is room for me to park safely, it's not outside my service area, and you have permission for me to be there, I can work anywhere!

MY DOG IS MATTED, WILL YOU SHAVE MY DOG?

Yes, I believe in prioritizing your pet’s well-being over their appearance. I do not perform de-matting, as it can be a painful and stressful process for your dog. If your pet’s coat is matted and cannot be maintained at the desired length, I will recommend shortening the coat to a more manageable length.

Matted areas will need to be shaved, which may incur additional charges. Please note that shaving a matted dog can significantly alter their appearance and behavior. While shaving is the safest option, it can also expose pre-existing health or skin conditions. For this reason, So Fetch! Mobile Dog Grooming cannot be held liable for any cuts, nicks, skin irritation, or hematomas that may result from matting.

MY FRIEND/FAMILY MEMBER IS VISITING, CAN YOU SQUEEZE IN THEIR DOG WITH MINE?

Most likely no. I have a set schedule each day. Unless I have some availability in the next hour, I won't be able to.

WHY ARE YOUR PRICES SO MUCH MORE THAN A SALON?

Mobile grooming is a luxury service that offers a level of convenience and personalized care that a traditional salon cannot match. With mobile grooming, your pet enjoys one-on-one attention, no car rides, no cages, no barking dogs, and no long waits. I come directly to you, which means less stress for both you and your pet.

Unlike a traditional groomer who may service 8-15 dogs a day, I limit myself to 4-6 dogs to ensure each pet receives the attention they deserve. My pricing reflects not only the time and expertise required but also the operational costs, including the mobile van, fuel, insurance, taxes, advertising, supplies, and emergency repairs.

I believe in providing a superior grooming experience, and the added cost ensures your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being.

WHAT IF MY DOG HAS FLEAS/TICKS?

If your dog has more than three live fleas, a mandatory flea bath will be required, with a $25 charge based on the size of your dog.

For any ticks found, there will be an additional charge of $10 for the first three ticks, plus $1 for each additional tick. Please ensure that your dog has been on preventative treatment and that your home has been treated for fleas and ticks at least 1-2 weeks prior to your grooming appointment.

Important: If fleas are discovered during grooming, we must cancel all remaining appointments for the day to thoroughly fog, clean, and sanitize the mobile van. Fleas are difficult to eradicate and can easily be transferred to other pets.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

WHAT SAFETY MEASURES DO YOU HAVE IN PLACE?

My trailer carries a fire extinguisher, a carbon monoxide detector, and a pet first aid kit to make sure your dogs and I are safe.

WHY DOES IT SAY "TEXT ONLY" BY YOUR PHONE NUMBER?

As a one-person business, I find it helpful to communicate via text so I can easily reference past conversations for important details. Texting also allows us to communicate at times that may not be ideal for a phone call, ensuring we can stay in touch without disrupting either of our schedules.

WILL YOU MUZZLE MY DOG?

I do not use muzzles, nor do I carry them in my mobile grooming van. If your dog becomes too stressed and requires a muzzle for safety, I will not continue the grooming session. While your dog's well-being is my top priority, I cannot proceed with grooming if there is a risk of injury. In such cases, I recommend seeking the assistance of a vet groomer who is better equipped to handle highly stressed dogs.
